JOSHUA MULL

I grew up at Hume Lake Christian Camps in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Growing up in the mountains, I developed a passion for the outdoors and nature, spending many hours hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking, shooting, climbing, and enjoying life in a small community.

After high school, I continued working seasonally at Hume Lake. I became a certified EMT while in college and worked at a YMCA summer camp as an EMT for a couple of years. I come from a family with a long history in public service. My dad was a firefighter, several of my aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins have served or are actively serving in the military, law enforcement, EMS, and the fire service. And that was the path I wanted to follow.

After my first stint in college, I moved to Texas and joined the Dallas Police Department, where I had a variety of roles, while working full time as a patrol officer. I then transferred to the Mesquite Police Department, where I continued working patrol, while serving in a variety of secondary assignments, including peer support. I spent the majority of my career working deep night shifts, with a few short trips to evening shift.

After 10 years as a police officer, I decided to try law school, when my dad retired and bought property in Idaho. I graduated from the University of Idaho School of Law. In my time in law enforcement, I saw a lot of critical incidents and people dealing with losing their loved ones. I saw the aftermath of estate planning done well and planning done poorly or not at all. I also learned the critical lesson that prior planning can help minimize the aftermath of an emergency.

In my free time, I still love being out in nature. Hiking, camping, riding my motorcycle, or spending time at the range. I’m also an avid reader and book collector.
